Meet the Parents....in Germany!

My parents, Gary and Joyce Grellmann visited us most recently.

Many of you know them, but for those of you who do not, let's just say that they have easily identifiable quirks (like all parents, right?). We have had many adventures, made complete by Grellmann family drama. Those of you that know....just know.

They arrived April 1, not having flown internationally since 1981. Here is a picture of them arriving at the airport.

Not bad after a 12 hour flight. They certainly have me beat. (Look how excited they are! Or is it delirium?)

Here is a list of the things we did and saw over their ~10 day visit (not necessarily in this order):

-climbed St. Peter's church tower
-Schloss Nymphemburg (a palace)
-Marienplatz (Munich's city square)
-walking tour of Munich
-Kaufingerstrasse (shopping)
-University of Munich
-a visit to the town of Fussen
-a visit to Salzburg
-a visit to Augsburg
-Olympic Stadium (of course! What else with 2 P.E teachers??)
-BMW museum/showroom (again, of course, my father)
-explored the English Garden (which is larger than both NY's central park and London's Hyde park, it stretches for about 3 miles) and went paddle boating in the lake.
-dinner with neighbors
-meals at Hofbrauhaus, Löwenbrau, Augustiner Kellar, Hax'nbauer and the Chinese Tower beer garden in the English Garden

What haven't we done? This is how my father operates. And my mother is just along for the ride. I hope their "vacation" was a least partly restful. Restful is open to interpretation.

More stories and pictures to come later. Stay tuned.
